JG Mediation & Family Law
Supervision
For down-to-earth professional assistance

Services
I have worked in the legal sector since 1981 and specialised in family law since 1992, subsequently becoming a Resolution accredited specialist.
I am passionate about supervision as I wish that this had been available (and that my employers would have been willing and enlightened enough to provide it) throughout my career, which, like the majority of careers has had its ups and downs and days where I have not known where to turn, either to offload or at times even celebrate safely. I do now have regular supervision.
I have worked for all types of clients from those eligible for legal aid to multi-millionaires and everything in between, both in financial and children matters. I have worked in small firms to being an equity partner in a multi office practice in the South East so chances are that I will have experienced something akin to what you may be going through or wish to discuss. Family lawyers juggle so many emotional balls – those of clients, colleagues, possibly children and extended family – not to mention their own home lives.
By choosing to participate in supervision – or more accurately reflective practice – you will be offered a confidential, safe, non-judgmental space, either face to face or remotely, where I will be a listening ear, sounding board and/or mentor as required.
I have always championed non litigious ways of working and because of this, I am a mediator and previously in my legal practice I was a collaborative lawyer. Even in non-confrontational arenas, supervision will enhance both your work practices and emotional health.
Mediation is a supportive and practical way to resolve disputes reducing stress and cost of a full blown hearing in court. With the guidance of a neutral mediator, both parties are given the opportunity to communicate openly, understand each other’s perspectives, and work towards a mutually acceptable solution.
Mediation can be used to avoid going to court completely, or even during the court process; parties can be in the same or separate rooms or even remotely via Teams, whatever feels right to ensure as comfortable an environment as possible to enable to parties to converse.
I bring my extensive experience both as a mediator and former specialist family solicitor, to the mediation process, combining professionalism with a calm and empathetic approach. Having worked with individuals, families, and organisations facing a wide range of disputes, I understand that a safe and constructive environment is key to ensuring that productive conversations can take place and lasting agreements can be reached.
About me

My name is Julie
Until recently I was an accredited specialist in Family Law with both Resolution and the Law Society; my areas of expertise were finances and pensions, although I also dealt with all forms of family law including children cases and was a trained collaborative lawyer
I have worked in Legal 500 and LawNet firms since I qualified as a solicitor in 1996. I was a partner in my previous firm and I left to set up a niche family law practice in April 2021 to provide a more personal service for clients.
My commitment remains to provide ‘down to earth, professional assistance’ in a way that I feel is more beneficial for clients than purely a legal route.
I am a Resolution trained mediator.
I am committed to providing a sympathetic, tailored and holistic service to all my clients, focusing, where possible, on resolving matters, rather than litigating, accepting, however, this may not always be the case.
Further, I feel that I can now assist other members of my profession to cope with the pressures, not only of practicing in the law, but the vagaries of clients, the ‘Amazon-style’ time demands and the impact of these, and many other matters, upon lawyers’ professional and personal lives.
I am trained as a Family Law Supervisor – supporting Lawyers to support others!
